Bo Davis will be the next defensive tackles coach at the University of Texas, Hookem.com has learned.

Davis has spent the past four years as Alabama’s defensive line coach. He is expected to replace the spot that was vacated by Mike Tolleson, who retired in December.

While Tolleson leaves big shoes to fill, Davis has been racking up a reputation as his players have racked up post-season accolades the past three seasons.

Despite losing three starters off the defensive line from its national championship team this past season, Alabama finished in the top 10 in rushing defense (9), pass efficiency defense (7), total defense (5) and scoring defense (4). The Crimson Tide also led the SEC in each of those categories and finished with the top turnover margin.

Prior to his stay at Alabama, Davis was an assistant defensive line coach and assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2006 with the Miami Dolphins. Davis, an LSU graduate, spent four years with the Tigers (2002-05) as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Davis, 40, began his coaching career at North Shore High School (Galena Park) where he was an assistant from 1997-2002.

Davis and his wife, Omeika, have two sons (Beau and Jackson) and a daughter (Juliana).

Davis made roughly $250,000 annually at Alabama.

Texas had no comment on the report.
