Mack Brown | Texas Longhorns2013: Texas vs Oklahoma State and F1 on the same day in Austin….. Don’t listen to the hype, Austin’s never had it better.

Patrick Dempsey, Matt LeBlanc, a prince or two, a sheik or three, a musician or thirty, an European or three hundred, a Mexican or three thousand will attend a UT football game next year—all on the same night!

It is estimated that 50,000 fans of Mexican Formula One racer Checo Perez flew into Austin from Mexico, California, and Arizona to cheer on their “amigo mejor”. Checo had never raced so close to home before and his fans didn’t want to miss a chance to be apart of it. Many of these fans arrived in Austin knowing they would not be able to get a ticket on any of the 3 days of racing, yet they could still party in the flavor of Austin and support their “amigo mejor.” And even though Austin is filled with F1 by day, not many of the evening events on Saturday night offer the excitement of a top 5 football team and 100,000 screaming fans.

Facts:

-Geno Smith, Landry Jones and Collin Klein are all seniors this year. The teams will have to reload and that is not always easy (i.e. think of Gilbert replacing McCoy. Now you get my point.)

-The Longhorns are currently led by many a sophomore and freshman who will be juniors and sophomores next year and leading the charge. David Ash the upperclassmen, that does have a good ring to it!

-Which Big 12 team is clearly better than the Horns in 2013? Looking at UT’s 2013 schedule leading up to the Nov 16 game against Oklahoma State: New Mexico State, @BYU, Ole Miss, Kansas State, @Iowa State, Oklahoma, @TCU, Kansas, @ West Virginia. I do not see a team that should be favored against the Horns.

-Formula One fans have money to burn, and so acquiring a football ticket will not be a difficult feat.

Call DeLoss, this game is perfect for November 16, just schedule it as a night game. Also, I bet more than a few out-of-town season ticket holders would enjoy seeing race cars by day and football by night.
