NCAA & Bagel Spreads?
By Randy Maltz – Founder/Editor at Silver and Blue Report & Hook’em Report

Half a bagel spread with cream cheese.

When it meets in January, the NCAA legislative council is considering 91 changes to rules, mostly inane ones.

One of these rules really interests me … ;^) I think I might start laughing now.

Take a look at Proposal No. 2011-78 set forth by the Big East.  This proposal would allows schools to offer spreads such as butter, cream cheese, jelly or peanut butter on top of bagels they provide for recruits.  I had no idea and I am sure 99.9% of fans had no idea, but currently, schools are only allowed to provide spreads for their own student-athletes.

I am not kidding!  Craziest thing I have heard in a long time.

It looks like the NCAA has its watchful eye on all aspects of college sports, but it took eight years to realize that schools like Miami (FL) had boosters offering extravagant benefits like large wads of cash, yacht rides and prostitutes.  Interesting, right?

I wonder how many hours and $1000’s will be waisted discussing bagel spreads?  I am still laughing!
